Bernd & Hilla Becher

Bernd & Hilla Becher were a German couple best known for taking photographs of industrial buildings such as barns, factories, steel works, water towers, storage silos and warehouses. They first collaborated on photographing and documenting the disappearing German industrial architecture in 1959, and had their first Gallery exhibition in 1963 at the Galerie Ruth Nohl in Siegen. Their underlying theme is the symmetry within the design of the buildings and their shots are often taken from a front on perspective with a large format camera. Last November i was lucky enough to see one of their exhibitions at the Dia Beacon in New York and was blown away by the incredible detail in their photos. To check out more of their stuff hit up the link.
